Service & Repair

Stairlift acting up? We service any brand — ours or someone else’s. Whether we installed it or not, whether it’s still under warranty or twenty years old, we’ll come to your home, figure out what’s wrong, and fix it. Servicing the whole region is what we’ve done for over 20 years.

Common issues we fix

  • A unit that beeps. Nine times out of ten this means the batteries are wearing out. Stairlift batteries are rechargeable and they don’t last forever — a beeping chair is usually telling you it’s time for a new set. It’s one of our most common service calls and a quick fix.
  • A chair that moves slowly, jerks, or stops mid-rail. Often worn rollers or a rail that needs cleaning and adjustment. Sometimes it’s a sensor tripping on an obstruction.
  • A dead unit that won’t move at all. Could be batteries, the charging circuit, or the power supply. We diagnose it on site instead of guessing over the phone.
  • Storm and power-surge damage. Lightning and outages are hard on the electronics in a stairlift. If your lift misbehaved after a storm, that’s a familiar story to us.
  • Worn or broken parts. Armrest controls, swivel levers, seat belts, remote controls — the parts that get touched every day wear out first, and most are replaceable without replacing the lift.

Annual maintenance

A stairlift is a machine with moving parts, and like any machine it lasts longer with regular attention. Our annual maintenance visit covers cleaning and inspecting the rail, checking battery health, testing the safety sensors and controls, and tightening and adjusting everything that should move smoothly. It catches the small stuff — a battery on its way out, a roller wearing thin — before it becomes a chair that won’t move on a Sunday night.

What a service visit looks like

  • You describe the problem when you call — beeping, not moving, moving wrong, whatever it’s doing.
  • We come to you. Our service area covers Western PA, NY’s Southern Tier, and eastern Ohio, and the visit happens at your home — the lift can’t come to us.
  • We diagnose it in person and tell you what’s wrong and what it costs before we do the work. No surprise charges after the fact.
  • We fix it and test it with you watching, so you can see it running right before we leave. If a part has to be ordered, we’ll tell you honestly how long it takes and make the lift safe in the meantime.

Brands we service

All of them. Bruno, Harmar, Handicare, Savaria, Acorn, Stannah — if it’s a stairlift, we’ll work on it. We keep common parts and batteries on hand for the major brands, and we can order what we don’t stock.

When you call Sunrise, you get our own small team — the same people who answer the phone are the people who show up with the toolbox. No call centers, no subcontractors. That’s how a family-owned business is supposed to work.
